3. Information We Collect

Our primary purposes in collecting Personal Information are to: (i) provide you and other users with a safe, smooth, and efficient experience of the Services, (ii) provide you with Materials related the Services, and (iii) be able to contact you in connection with your participation on the Services. We only collect Personal Information about you that we consider necessary for achieving these purposes.

When you login through the Services, we will ask you for personally identifiable information. This refers to information about you that can be used to contact or identify you like your name or email address, or other information which could be reasonably linked to such identifying information by us (“Personal Information”). You also have the option to save a picture to your profile.

If you login to the Services using Google OAuth, the following information from Google, if it has been made publically available by you on Google, will be stored on our servers – ID, first and last names, email address, country, locale, and gender (“Login Information”).  Additionally, your Google profile picture becomes part of your Login Information. Your Google ID will be your username for the Site.

We also collect Personal Information when you send us an email message. We use this Personal Information to provide the Services and administer your inquiries.

Certain information that does not identify you (“Non-Identifying Information”) would be considered a part of your Personal Information if it were combined with other identifiers (for example, combining your zip code with your street address) in a way that enables you to be identified. But the same pieces of information are considered Non-Identifying Information when they are taken alone or combined only with other Non-Identifying Information (for example, your country and gender). We may combine your Personal Information with Non-Identifying Information and aggregate it with information collected from other users of the Services to attempt to provide you with a better experience, to improve the quality and value of the Services, and to analyze and understand how the Services are used. We may also use the combined information without aggregating it to serve you specifically, for instance to deliver a product or service to you according to your preferences or restrictions, or to send you user surveys or requests for feedback. We may collect any Personal Information you provide through such surveys or calls for feedback.

When you visit the Site, we automatically track certain information that your browser sends whenever you visit the Site. We use this information to do internal research on our users’ demographics, interests, and behavior to better understand, protect and serve you and our community. This information may include the URL that you just came from (whether this URL is on the Site or not), which URL you next go to (whether this URL is on the Site or not), access times and dates, your computer browser information, your Internet Protocol address (“IP Address”), and other statistics (“Log Data”). We use Log Data to monitor and analyze use of the Services and for the Services’s technical administration, to increase the Services’s functionality and user-friendliness, and to better tailor them to our visitors’ needs. For example, some of this information is collected so that when you visit the Sites again, it will recognize you and provide you with information appropriate to your interests. We also use this information to verify that visitors to the Site meet the criteria required to process their requests.

When you visit the App, we collect some information automatically, such as your mobile device identifier (“Device ID”), IP address and operating system. We use the information that is automatically collected to support the internal operations of the App. Some types of internal operations include:

  • to monitor metrics such as total number of visitors and traffic;
  • to understand which activities and services are most popular;
  • to understand flow through the App;
  • to reduce the repetition in the promotional messages that users see on the App;
  • to understand what devices and operating systems the App is used on;
  • to diagnose and fix technology problems.

If you send us personal correspondence, such as emails or letters, or if other users or third parties send us correspondence about your activities or postings on the Services, we may collect such information into a file specific to you.

If we discover that we have collected information from a Child in a manner inconsistent with COPPA, we will take appropriate steps to either delete the information, or immediately seek the parent’s consent for that collection.

Therefore, in response to a verified request by law enforcement or other government officials relating to a criminal investigation or alleged illegal activity, we can (and you authorize us to) disclose your name, city, state, telephone number, and email address (if you have provided this information to us). Without limiting the above, in an effort to respect your privacy, we will not otherwise disclose your Personal Information to law enforcement or other government officials without a subpoena, court order or substantially similar legal procedure, except when we believe in good faith that the disclosure of information is necessary to prevent imminent physical harm or financial loss; or to report suspected illegal activity.

Due to the existing regulatory environment, we cannot ensure that all of your private communications and other Personal Information will never be disclosed in ways not otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. By way of example and without limiting the foregoing, we may be forced to disclose your Personal Information to the government or third parties under certain circumstances or third parties may unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications. 12. Cookies Policy

IDEO is committed to protecting you and any data (anonymous or otherwise) that we collect about you online. This section tells you how we use cookies, why, and how this allows us to improve the Services. It also provides you with information on how to manage what cookies are stored on your device.

First and foremost, we do not use or disclose information collected through cookies or similar technologies for third-party advertising purposes (including behaviorally targeting of advertising to students).

We use data collection devices such as “cookies” on certain pages of the Site and App. “Cookies” are small files placed on your hard drive. We use Cookies to allow you to enter your Login Information less frequently. You are always free to decline our Cookies if your browser permits, although in that case you may not be able to use certain features on the Services, and you may be required to re-enter your password or Login Information more frequently. Examples of Cookies that we use:

  • Strictly necessary Cookies: These are Cookies that are required for the operation of the Site and App. They include, for example, Cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of the Site and App.
  • Analytical/performance Cookies: These allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around the Site and App when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way the Site and App work, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily.
  • Functionality Cookies: These are used to recognise you when you return to the Site and App. This enables us to personalise our content for you, greet you by name and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region).
  • Targeting Cookies: These cookies record your visit to the Site and App, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. We will use this information to make the Site and App more relevant to your interests, but also to ensure that we are aligning the Site and App in the best way with our target visitors.

Additionally, you may encounter Cookies or other similar devices used for improving the user experience or providing added functionality on certain pages of the Services that are placed by third parties. For example, if you view content or video submitted by another user, there may be a Cookie placed within that web page. We do not control the use of Cookies by third parties, nor do we have an obligation to do so.

We use user activity on the Services to do internal research with the potential to improve the Services. We may also track the URL that you came to the Site from (whether this URL is on the Site or not), which URL you go to next (whether this URL is on the Site or not), your computer browser information, and your IP Address. We do all of these things to better understand, protect and serve you and the Services and to be able to investigate any allegations against you or us.

By using our Site or App (through any device), you agree that this Privacy Policy applies to that use, in addition to any other terms and conditions that may apply. By using our Services, you also agree that we can place these types of Cookies on your device. Again, you can block these Cookies using your browser settings.

If you wish to restrict or block the Cookies which are set by any website, including this Site, you should do this through each individual browser setting and on each device you use to access the internet. You can allow Cookies from specific websites by making them “trusted websites” in your internet browser. For more information on how to do this, and how to change your browser settings, you may visit: allaboutcookies.org.

We reserve the right to make changes to our Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the Site and App will constitute and confirm your agreement to and acceptance of such changes or modifications.
